Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Townsend, WA
This is a list of grave sites compiled in 1966 at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Port Townsend, Jefferson Co., WA. This cemetery is owned by the Masons although one does not need to be a Mason to be buried here. Some of the stones are memorials to men lost at sea since Port Townsend was a thriving seafaring town in the 1800s. There are quite a few Army, Navy, and Coast Guard veterans from the Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I, and World War II buried in this cemetery. There are several cemeteries in Port Townsend, Laurel Grove, St. Mary's which is Catholic, the Redmen Cemetery which was started about 1900 by a fraternal organization, the Improved Order of Red Men, Fort Worden Post Cemetery, and more. You may find out more about these and other local cemeteries by visiting the Jefferson County, WA GenWeb site. There are five grave sites from this list with no last names. There is some identifying information. These are all the names and information about them that I have - just up to 1966. There is one funeral home in Port Townsend. The owners may be able to help you if you believe an ancestor/relative is buried here or at one of the other cemeteries and the name is not on this list.
Kosec Funeral Home (360) 385-2642 Some family members have contacted me and have provided additional information. In those cases, it is noted in the 'Comments' column. |
