During the research to find out about William Thomas Riley, my father-in-law, who served on LST-715, I have communicated via e-mail and snail mail with many nice folks who have shared what they know. One of them served on board the LST-715 during WWII and sent me her history another served on board during the Korean War and sent me photographs.
These pages are dedicated to the memory of William Thomas Riley, YN2. And, to all the Officers and Men of USS DeKalb County (LST-715), I wish you "Fair Winds and Following Seas."
Thank you Bill Jones for the The Spirits of Ships award.
"The Spirits of Ships award is given to sites honoring the memory of decommissioned US Navy war ships. These sites keep the spirits of our bygone ladies alive so the world can know how much they meant to us and that they live on in our memories. Receiving this award indicates your dedication to a most important part of our country, Naval history and the preservation of freedom." - Bill Jones
Thank you, Paul D. Henriott CWO, USA, Ret.
